UCLA press release annouces research partnership with RE Childrens

Removing half the brain is only treatment for neurological disease that strikes otherwise healthy children

The Rasmussen Encephalitis (RE) Children's Project, a foundation that supports scientific research to find a cure for this devastating neurological disease, has donated $111,000 to researchers in the departments of neurosurgery and pathology/lab medicine (neuropathology) at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.

The RE Children’s Project is a 501 (c) (3) TAX ID - (27-1377807) organization devoted to Rasmussen’s Encephalitis, most importantly the search to find a cure. Rasmussen’s Encephalitis is a rare neurological condition that impacts children primarily under 13 years of age rendering them paralyzed on one side of their body and experiencing incurable epilepsy. In many cases, the removal of ½ of the brain is the only solution to stop the uncontrollable seizures.
